Mumbai is overcrowded??????

I don't know what people are thinking when they say Mumbai is crowded!!

Dude.... you are the crowd...!!

You say trains are crowded, roads are jammed, there is no air to breathe. You complain that thousands of migrants enter Mumbai daily...

Just because you are born in Mumbai, you don't have the right to keep it away from the rest of the world....

Isn't it important to first understand why do people come to Mumbai??

Reasons:

  • Aren't you proud when you say Mumbai is the dream city.
  • When the country is in the 20th Century, Mumbai is one of the few cities that has entered the 21st Century.
  • If any food chain or apparel chain starts up, Mumbai is one of the first few places where they wish to start up. If not you will doubt the growth objectives of the organization.
  • Only in a city like Mumbai, a average HSC educated individual can dream of earning more than a graduate in any other town.
  • Every dream has a chance of getting fulfilled in this city.
  • If you want to be a part of the celeb world, there is just one place you have to be at.

But are these reasons good enough? You would say all of this doesn't make much sense because most of the migrants are laborers. But if a laborer can give his family bread and provide his children with education in his own village or town, why would he prefer a already overcrowded city like Mumbai? He knows life will be like hell here. To earn two meals for the day, he will have to run around with the city, jump in local trains and buses, see the whole city fighting over everything and nothing. There he was in his village living a peaceful and calm life. No hurries, no garbage, filled with people who cared and who would be there as and when needed. He still prefers to be at a place that doesn't know what peace and calmness means, where it is difficult to know who the next door individual is.

One question... WHY???

Because, in that village, peace came at the cost of hunger.
Because, in that village, love came at the cost of education for his children.
Because, in that village, calmness came at the cost of standard of living.
And because, in that village, relaxed life came at the cost of PROGRESS!!!

He is ready to do anything for a future and if the future is here between hardships... then be it.... the gain is more than loss... and so he is here... happy amongst the unhappiness.... content in the discontent...

Now, the story is changing... villages are turning to towns. Opportunities are increasing, more in small towns than in cities. Haven't we seen the change?? Aren't smaller cities like Pune, Aurangabad, Ahmedabad, Baroda, etc. gaining importance. I am sure each of you would have come across atleast one case where they would leave Mumbai to live in such a small city...

So...

At the end of the day....

Its all about opportunities... where ever there is an opportunities, the opportunity grabbers reach.... Mumbai is an opportunity... and so they crowd it!!

Be it... accept it... and live it!!!!
